Girona is known as a cycling heaven for road, mtb and gravel riders alike. Spoilt for choice, head inland to Olot, Ruppet or Banyoles, or tackle the steep climbs of Els Angels and head towards the coast.
There are endless options here.
We recommend minimum 45mm tyres. If heading into the sandier climbs of Els Angels some rear grip is recommended.
Girona riding
Easy Girona lap - keep it flat
Technical: 1/5
Physical: 2/5
Time: 1-3hrs
35km | 630m elv.
A moderate lap around Livigno keeping elevation to a minimum while sticking mainly to roads and walker paths.
Points to note: The lake section is mostly ridable unless water levels are very high.
The climb at approx km 8 can be skipped if preferring an even shorter route but this is all on sealed surface.
St Hillary’s

Physical: 4/5
Time: 3-5hrs
51km | 1,700m elv.
A combination of mtb single-track, flow trail and longer climbs. This route will keep you focused.
A few points of dismount but never for long. MTBing will make these sections ridable.
Rifugio Pizzini - incl. singletrack

Physical: 5/5
Time: 6-8hrs
114km | 3469m elv.
A challenging lap not for first timers.

83km | 1,645m elv.
A key location to ride to from Livigno. Cancano lake can be accessed by some of the best gravel road options.
Smooth gravel, a combination of road climbing, flatter gravel sectors and beautiful scenery.
Rifugio Pizzini - no singletrack
Technical: 3.5/5
Physical: 5/5

111km | 3,360m elv.
An ‘easier’ version of the lap prior. Removing the mtb single- track.
Overall still a very physically demanding course.
